Our sitting baby portraits are perfect for 6 to 12 month old babies. More specifically, the ideal time for sitter portraits is when your baby is able to sit up unaided… ideally before he or she can crawl, if possible!

This age is completely adorable, and gone SO quickly! Puppy rolls, super-smiles, fun and laughter… it’s really no wonder why these are some of our favourite baby portrait sessions.

To help style your portrait session for the very best baby photography, we offer a wide range of beautiful backdrops to choose from. After booking, you’ll be able to select the backdrop(s) of your choice for your sitter session.

Selecting your background and colours in advance means you’ll also be able to choose the perfect outfit to match the backdrop we’ll be using for your baby portraits.

We include free use of our studio props in your session fee. We also have a selection of purpose-made baby portrait outfits. Our baby outfits are perfect for sitting baby portrait sessions and are available for use at no extra charge.

SITTER SESSION FAQS

A sitter session is for any baby from around 6 months old, up to around a year or so… right up to walking age.

This is the session we most recommend to parents who would like a beautiful set of baby portraits for any baby who is already is past the newborn stage.

Of course, we can photograph babies younger than 6 months – from around 3-4 months old, it’s perfectly possible to offer a “tummy-time” portrait session (feel free to contact us if you’d like this)…

…but at BabyShoots, we really LOVE a sitter session! This is because at this stage, we are able to get so much more from your baby. More ‘poses’ (sitting, laying, maybe crawling)… more expressions… more smiles… loads of interaction… and more fun.

And who wouldn’t want that? 🙂

For the best sitter baby portraits, we recommend scheduling your photo shoot for when your baby is around 6 to 9 months old… but we can also accommodate older babies if required.

The best sitter portraits take place when your baby can sit up unaided, but ideally, before he or she can crawl.

For babies around 1yr old, you may also consider a Cake Smash portrait session

We keep all our baby portrait sessions relatively short because we know babies have a short attention span.

A standard baby portrait sitter session takes up to one hour. A mini-session for sitters takes around 30 minutes, and a micro-session for your baby portraits is around 15 minutes.

We’ll set everything up before you arrive, and we work quickly to capture as many cute expressions as possible while we have your baby’s attention!

We shoot lots of images during your baby portrait session… and then we edit and retouch all the very best ones to show you.

A typical gallery from a standard sitter session will usually include between 30 – 50 beautiful baby portraits for you to choose from.

Our Mini and Micro sessions will have less finished files of course – but we’ll still ensure you have a great selection of images for your gallery.

The number of images included in your session varies between packages, so please refer to your chosen session for the exact number of images included in your chosen photoshoot.

A collection of digital images is included with all out Sitter sessions.

All sessions also include our time and talent to create and retouch a set of beautiful images for you , with all images edited and retouched before we create your online gallery.

Yes, parent and sibling portraits can be added to a standard sitter portrait session. Although we concentrate mostly on baby alone, we’re also happy to include a few family portraits if you’d like this.

Due to time constraints, baby portrait mini-sessions and micro-sessions do not include family portraits.

Yes, of course… although a number of digital images are already included in each Sitter session package.

All digital sales include high-resolution (full-size and printable) digital images plus a complementary set of web-sized digital copies to match.

We also offer a wide range of stunning physical products such as framed prints, canvas, albums and our beautiful heirloom print boxes… any of which can be added at your discretion.
