A Newborn Mini-Session lasts up to 1 hour. This session includes a selection of poses chosen by the studio. After editing, you can select your favourite 10 digital images to keep, to be chosen from a gallery of around 20 images.

Our standard newborn portraits typically take around 2 hours to complete – but we allow up to 3 hours. This allows plenty of time for feeding, soothing, and capturing a variety of poses.

About Us

Hi, we’re Karen & Rob… and we’re the team BabyShoots!

With Rob having been a full-time professional photographer for over 20 years, for the last 15 years we’ve specialised in creating beautiful newborn and baby portraits, helping families across Sussex create timeless memories of their little ones’ earliest days.

Our calm, baby-led sessions are relaxed — no rush, no posing pressure — just gentle guidance and authentic moments you’ll treasure for life.

In our free time, we love to unwind at a music festival and to travel when we can. We’re both pretty relaxed and very patient… which happens to be the perfect demeanour for a pair of newborn photographers!

Our simple process for great newborn PHOTOGRAPHY

book YOUR SHOOT WITH US

Book a provisional date and we’ll send you an immediate confirmation containing everything you need to prepare for the best possible newborn portraits. Plus, you have the flexibility to easily change your date online later if needed.

02.

Enjoy an amazing NEWBORN experience!

Simply sit back and relax while we create a stunning set of newborn portraits right before your eyes. You’ll love the process and leave with a beautiful collection of new memories from this special experience.

03.

VIEW & SELECT YOUR FAVOURITE IMAGES

After the shoot, we’ll meticulously edit and retouch every image before inviting you back to view the final gallery and choose your favourites. You’re free to upgrade by adding extra images or products, or stay with your initial package.

04.

Private online gallery with instant digital downloads

After you’ve selected your favourite portraits and purchased any optional extras, you can download your chosen images immediately from your own private online gallery.

YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED

The best newborn portraits take place at around 7 to 10 days old – or no later than 2 weeks old. We strongly recommend booking early (while pregnant) if at all possible.

If we need to change your exact shoot date later, that’s no problem (see below).

This is no problem, so long as you’ve already booked a slot with us. Your booking confirmation includes a link you can use to reschedule online if needed.

This means you can be confident of getting the perfect date for your newborn photography.

If your baby is already born we recommend using our online scheduler to book in a date for as soon as possible. If your baby is already 2 weeks or older, we can still create a set of beautiful baby pictures for you… but your session may include simpler poses and more dressed or wrapped images.

All newborn portraits take place in our Newborn Photography Studio in Copthorne, West Sussex (between Crawley and East Grinstead).

Newborn sessions generally take place on Monday to Thursday mornings. Limited weekends are available, subject to availability and a small weekend premium (please contact us directly).

All images are fully edited and retouched before we show them to you. Images are usually ready within 2 weeks (often less).
