Hi, we’re Karen & Rob!We’re a couple, and together we run Baby Shoots Photography.

With Rob having been a full-time professional photographer for over 20 years, we’ve spent the last 15 years specialising in creating beautiful, award-winning newborn and baby portraits. While we welcome families from all over the South East, we have become a premier choice for parents seeking a calm, boutique experience near Haywards Heath, Lindfield, and the surrounding Mid Sussex villages.

We know that newborns rarely stick to a schedule, so you’ll have the total flexibility to adjust your appointment online as soon as your little one arrives.

The Art of Selection

After your session, we meticulously hand-edit and retouch each image to a fine-art standard. Then you’ll be invited back to the studio for a private viewing appointment to see your gallery in its full glory and select the portraits you love most.

If you prefer to keep things simple, you also have the option to pre-purchase the full collection online without having to return to the studio.

Frequently asked questions

The best newborn portraits take place at just 7 to 10 days old – or no later than 2 weeks old if possible. We strongly recommend booking early (while pregnant) if at all possible.

For the best results, we recommend booking after your 20-week scan. The ideal window for those sleepy, curled-up portraits is between 7 and 14 days old, though we can capture beautiful “older newborn” images up to 6 weeks.

If we need to change your exact shoot date later, that’s no problem (see below).

This is no problem, so long as you’ve already booked a slot with us. Your booking confirmation includes a link so you can reschedule your photoshoot onlineif needed.


This means you can be confident of getting the perfect date for your newborn photography.

Absolutely! We are very popular with families from Haywards Heath, Lindfield, and Ardingly. Most of our clients from these areas find it’s a very quick, stress-free drive (usually about 15–20 minutes) via the B2036 (Balcombe Road) or the A23, making it an easy trip that avoids the heavy traffic of the larger town centres.


Yes, we have free, private parking right outside the front gates of our home studio. You won’t have to worry about carrying your baby across a busy car park or dealing with parking wardens; you can transition straight from your car into our studio.


If your baby is already born, we recommend using our online scheduler to book a date as soon as possible. If your baby is already 2 weeks or older, we can still create a set of beautiful baby pictures for you… But your session may include simpler poses and more dressed or wrapped images.

All newborn portraits take place in our specialist Newborn Photography Studio in Copthorne, West Sussex, making us the perfect choice for parents in the RH16 and RH17 postcodes.

Our newborn photoshoots generally take place on Monday to Thursday mornings. Limited weekends are available, subject to availability, and a small weekend premium (please contact us directly).

Because our private studio is tucked away in the quiet village of Copthorne, we are perfectly positioned for families in Cuckfield, Ardingly, and Scaynes Hill. You get a luxury photography experience without the stress of navigating Haywards Heath town centre traffic or the “fun” of hunting for a parking space in The Orchards. Yes, of course! Digital images are included in all our newborn photo shoot packages – and all newborn sessions also include the option to add additional digital (or printed) images if you want to. In fact, after enjoying their newborn photoshoot, we find that most people want to upgrade to all the images we’ve created for them! 🙂

You can add extra digital images, either individually or as a complete set of all files (this also includes a beautiful, ultra-high-resolution animated slideshow set to music). Customers who pre-purchase all files can do so without returning to the studio for a viewing and ordering session, if they choose.

All images are meticulously edited and retouched to perfection, before we show them to you… So there will be a short wait while we prepare your images after your portrait session – but not too long! Images are usually ready within 2 weeks (often less).
