We have just collected photographs from our second baby shoot as Karen & Rob photographed our daughter over 3 years ago. We were extremely lucky to get a session before lockdown. Karen & Rob have measures in place to make the studio Covid safe. Masks are worn & hand sanitiser is readily available and social distancing is adhered to. As we had used Baby Shoots previously, we knew the drill but forgot how well organised the session is. We received an email a few days prior detailing things we could do to ensure perfect shots on the day- this was really helpful and the information is built on years of experience. The actual shoot itself was slick and professional and felt Edward was in good hands. The result is a set of wonderful images that we will treasure forever.

Even before booking, Karen and Rob were quick at responding and answered any questions in detail to ensure we booked for exactly what we wanted. On arrival they were very friendly and accommodating, which for us who have never had professional photos done nor normally like our pictures taken, made us as a family more relaxed. Amazing!

I was a bit nervous taking my 2 boys and new baby along for photo shoot where they would have to sit still for a considerable amount of time, but both Robert and Karen made us all feel so comfortable and at home. I'm a shy person so was nervous about having maternity photos taken, however I am so glad that I booked with Baby Shoots photography and now we have amazing photos to treasure forever. I'd highly recommend Karen and Rob having attended for a newborn photoshoot which also featured a family shot with our two other toddlers. Karen and Rob were fantastic at engaging our older children whilst ensuring they got those all important shots which we will cherish as parents for years to come and our children once they are older. About Us

Hi, we’re Karen and Rob — the couple behind Baby Shoots.

Rob has been a full‑time professional photographer for more than 20 years, and together we’ve spent the last 15 specialising in creating natural, timeless newborn and baby portraits. Families visit us from across the South East, and we’re proud to be a favourite choice for parents seeking a calm, boutique experience close to Burgess Hill and the wider Mid Sussex area.

How we work

Our newborn sessions follow a baby‑led approach: peaceful, unhurried, and focused on gentle guidance rather than rigid posing. With our studio based in Copthorne, we’re ideally placed for families in Wivelsfield Green, Hassocks, and Hurstpierpoint who want a luxury photography experience without the stress of navigating Burgess Hill town centre or searching for parking near The Martlets.

When we’re not in the studio, Karen loves to dance, and Rob is learning to play guitar. We both enjoy music festivals and travelling whenever we get the chance. Book a provisional date, and we’ll send you an immediate confirmation containing everything you need to prepare for the best possible newborn portraits.

Plus, you don’t need to worry if your baby arrives earlier or later than expected because you’ll have the flexibility to easily change your date online later if needed.

Simply sit back and relax while we create a stunning set of newborn portraits right before your eyes.


You’ll love watching us pose your new baby for a series of beautiful newborn portraits… and will leave with a beautiful collection of new memories from this very special newborn experience.

After your photoshoot, we’ll meticulously edit and retouch every image before inviting you back for a free viewing and ordering session, to view your gallery and select your favourite portraits to keep.

The best newborn portraits take place at just 7 to 10 days old – or no later than 2 weeks old if possible. We strongly recommend booking early (while pregnant) if at all possible.

For the best results, we recommend booking after your 20-week scan. The ideal window for those sleepy, curled-up portraits is between 7 and 14 days old, though we can capture beautiful “older newborn” images up to 6 weeks.

If we need to change your exact shoot date later, that’s no problem (see below).

This is no problem, so long as you’ve already booked a slot with us. Your booking confirmation includes a link so you can reschedule your photoshoot onlineif needed.


This means you can be confident of getting the perfect date for your newborn photography.

Our boutique studio is located in Copthorne, which is a short 30-minute drive from Burgess Hill. Most families reach us by simply heading straight up the A23 or using the B2036 (Cuckfield Road), making us a convenient local choice that avoids the congestion of larger town centres.


Yes! We regularly welcome families from Hassocks, Hurstpierpoint, Ditchling, and even Brighton and beyond. Parents often tell us they prefer the short, stress-free drive to our quiet studio over trying to navigate busy high streets that often come with parking issues in towns like Burgess Hill town centre or The Martlets.


Yes. Unlike many studios in town centres, we have free, private parking right outside the front gates of our home studio. You won’t have to worry about carrying your baby across a busy car park or dealing with parking wardens; you can transition straight from your car into our studio.


If your baby is already born, we recommend using our online scheduler to book a date as soon as possible. If your baby is 2 weeks or older, we can still create a beautiful set of baby pictures for you… But your session may include simpler poses and more dressed or wrapped images.

All newborn portraits take place in our specialist Newborn Photography Studio in Copthorne, West Sussex.

Our studio is a private, dedicated space specifically tailored for the comfort of babies and parents, offering a completely stress-free experience for families travelling from Burgess Hill, Haywards Heath, and Hassocks.

Being situated just a short, direct drive up the A23, we’re just a quick and easy 30-minute trip for parents from across the Mid Sussex district, as well as surrounding villages like Ditchling and Hurstpierpoint. By avoiding the congestion of Burgess Hill town centre and the search for parking, you can step straight from your car into the relaxing space of our temperature-controlled studio. Our newborn photoshoots generally take place on Monday to Thursday mornings. Limited weekends are available, subject to availability, and a small weekend premium (please contact us directly).

Yes — absolutely. Every newborn session includes a curated selection of digital images as standard, and you’re always welcome to add extra digital or printed photographs if you’d like to.
In fact, once families see their gallery after the session, most choose to upgrade to the full collection of images we’ve created for them.
You can add additional digital files individually or choose to upgrade to the complete set. When you opt for the full digital collection, you’ll also receive a complimentary ultra–high‑resolution animated slideshow, beautifully set to music.
If you prefer, you can even pre‑purchase all digital files in advance and skip the in‑studio viewing and ordering appointment altogether.

Every image we create for you is lovingly crafted before you ever see it. After your session, we spend many hours carefully perfecting each photograph — refining the tones, softening the details, and bringing out all the emotion and beauty from those first precious days.
Because each image is edited with this level of care, there is, of course, a short wait while we prepare your gallery. But we promise you, it’s worth every moment! Your fully finished images are usually ready within 1–2 weeks, beautifully polished and ready for you to fall in love with.
