I'd highly recommend Karen and Rob having attended for a newborn photoshoot which also featured a family shot with our two other toddlers. Karen and Rob were fantastic at engaging our older children whilst ensuring they got those all important shots which we will cherish as parents for years to come and our children once they are older. I was particularly impressed by how many different shots we managed to get in what seemed like a very short frame of time - they truly are very skilled at what they do and as a customer you could not ask for more when wanting to capture that shortlived, fleeting newborn period.

Even before booking, Karen and Rob were quick at responding and answered any questions in detail to ensure we booked for exactly what we wanted. On arrival they were very friendly and accommodating, which for us who have never had professional photos done nor normally like our pictures taken, made us as a family more relaxed. We left feeling confident our photos would be nothing but perfect and couldn't wait to see them. We have just collected photographs from our second baby shoot as Karen & Rob photographed our daughter over 3 years ago. We were extremely lucky to get a session before lockdown. Karen & Rob have measures in place to make the studio Covid safe. Masks are worn & hand sanitiser is readily available and social distancing is adhered to. As we had used Baby Shoots previously, we knew the drill but forgot how well organised the session is. We received an email a few days prior detailing things we could do to ensure perfect shots on the day- this was really helpful and the information is built on years of experience. The actual shoot itself was slick and professional and felt Edward was in good hands. The result is a set of wonderful images that we will treasure forever.

Amazing!

The best newborn portraits take place at just 7 to 10 days old – or no later than 2 weeks old if possible. We strongly recommend booking early (while pregnant) if at all possible.

For the best results, we recommend booking after your 20-week scan. The ideal window for those sleepy, curled-up portraits is between 7 and 14 days old, though we can capture beautiful “older newborn” images up to 6 weeks.

If we need to change your exact shoot date later, that’s no problem (see below).

While lifestyle photography has its place, our boutique Copthorne studio is specifically designed for high-end newborn portraiture. From our top-quality, modern equipment, including professional lighting and backgrounds, to a full range of bespoke props, outfits, wraps, beds, bowls, baskets and other accessories… you’ll find them all to hand inside our cosy home-studio.

We provide a perfectly temperature-controlled environment, professional studio lighting that mimics a soft natural glow (regardless of the British weather!), and an extensive collection of luxury props and wraps.

For families in Crawley Down, Turners Hill, and Heathy Wood, we offer a “retreat” experience—giving you a chance to sit back and relax while we create fine-art portraits in a space optimised for newborn safety and comfort.

Don’t worry—babies rarely read the script! Because our studio is a dedicated, calm sanctuary right here in Copthorne, we never rush a session. We follow a strictly baby-led approach, allowing plenty of time for feeding, soothing, and cuddles. With over 15 years of experience, we’ve seen it all, and our patient, gentle techniques ensure we capture beautiful portraits even if your little one takes a while to settle. Our goal is for you to leave our RH10 studio feeling relaxed, not stressed.

If your baby is already born, we recommend using our online scheduler to book a date as soon as possible. If your baby is already 2 weeks or older, we can still create a set of beautiful baby pictures for you… But your session may include simpler poses and more dressed or wrapped images.

All newborn portraits take place in our specialist Newborn Photography Studio in Copthorne Village, West Sussex. Our studio is a private, dedicated space specifically tailored for the comfort of babies and parents. We provide a warm, relaxing environment offering a completely stress-free experience for families in Copthorne and all over Sussex, Surrey and beyond.

Our newborn photoshoots generally take place on Monday to Thursday mornings. Limited weekends are available, subject to availability, and a small weekend premium (please contact us directly).

Yes, of course! Digital images are included in all our newborn photo shoot packages – and all newborn sessions also include the option to add additional digital (or printed) images if you want to. In fact, after enjoying their newborn photoshoot, we find that most people want to upgrade to all the images we’ve created for them! 🙂

You can add extra digital images, either individually or as a complete set of all files (this also includes a beautiful, ultra-high-resolution animated slideshow set to music). Customers who pre-purchase all files can do so without returning to the studio for a viewing and ordering session, if they choose.

All images are meticulously edited and retouched to perfection, before we show them to you… So there will be a short wait while we prepare your images after your portrait session – but not too long! Images are usually ready within 2 weeks (often less).
